Anyway, Baba (Yoko's mom) went back to Japan on Tuesday - and we're on our own :-( Baba has been a great help over these three weeks though we know it has been tough on her, having to get use to new routine in this (Singapore) humidity. She must have been extremely tired (who wouldn't) - we heard from Yoko's sister that she immediately went to bed right after she got home - she started to sneeze and even had to get medication for her running nose and sneezing. Pray that she gets well soon!!
Thanks to Mothercare Bath Support - Brandon isn't crying during his bath - In fact, we think Brandon quite like it, sitting comfortably in the warm water as daddy cleans him. (Actually, the bath support helps Daddy's back too)

- I agree with Yoko, but there are times when it is helpful.
- It depends. Ok when he need it.
- (from an email) Listen to your wife on this issue. There are many things at stake with your child and the bonding, nurturing and feeding of your son. Do not interfere with that. Secondly, a pacifier is just not a good thing, ever....
- (from an email) Until I had my son, I did not know there was so much controversy about nursing, parenting, etc. There are so many theories, opinions etc. I asked 2 friends and they gave me similar wise counsel. Each child has a different personality and parents cannot rigidly follow one method for all children...

He sure looks cute & contented!
We bought a pacifier for Ethan as well but we got it quite late and he was already able to settle himself to sleep without it, so it has now been abandoned. He does have a nappy-blanket that he likes to snuggle into when he goes to sleep tho -- we think blankets are easier to keep clean and it's thin enough to prevent him from suffocating!
Pacifiers were made for a reason (hence the name?). I would be keeping an eye on Brandon when he uses it. If he falls asleep within 5 minutes of when he has the pacifier in, then why not remove it as soon as he is asleep? He is not refusing Yoko's nursing is he? If he is, then there might be a different issue involved. I would be concerned that he will try and substitute his hand or finger(s) instead. Babies have a natural tendency to suck on things. There is a certain comfort about having something push against their gums and tongue. It is far easier to remove the pacifier at an older age than the fingers or hand.
